Bringing Common Sense to Local Government
Why I am running for Durham City Council
I have chosen to run for Durham City Council because I care about my community. I care about the businesses in Durham, and I especially care about the people of Durham.
Like many cities today, Durham faces challenges. Those challenges have causes. Like the layers of an onion, the visible outer layer of school drop-outs, crime, and high-unemployment neighborhoods has underlying factors that are political, moral, and at the core, spiritual.

The Durham Small Business Initiative
This initiative addresses the need for job creation in Durham that benefits not only small business owners but actually employs citizens of Durham. To read the full text of my Durham Small Business Initiative, click here.
New employee residency policy
All new employees of Durham should reside in Durham.
Vocational programs
I support job skills training, vocational programs for youth, and better youth programs for kids and youths.
A pro-life, pro-family candidate
Although the city council may not be able to stop the county commissioners from giving taxpayers' dollars to Planned Parenthood, I will be a voice for those precious babies who are being sent to their death. I am the only Durham City Council candidate who endorses the God-given unalienable right to life of all innocent human beings.
In July 2011 the Durham City Council unanimously passed a resolution condemning the marriage amendment passed by the state legislature for voters to vote on next May. I am the only candidate for Durham City Council who supports that amendment.

Supporting a freeze on tax increases
Although I previously conditionally supported the proposed half-percent and quarter-percent sales tax increases, having talked with citizens in Durham and more thoroughly considered the proposals, I do not support these or any other tax increases. Taxes are already too high, and the government needs to learn to live within its means. I am the only City Council candidate who opposes the tax increases.
